Automation

"Get your look together and keep replicating it with only new pieces that fit into the mold. Everyone has to find their comfort zone — their ideal voice which always falls somewhere between what they’re most comfortable in and what looks best on them. Consistency is the key to all great style icons. The keystone to modernity is efficiency and automation, so why not apply that to your closet?"

 Chris Benz Interview from Refinery29

I've always noticed that I buy the same styles, silhouettes, colors over and over peppered in with some on trend things . I never want to look trendy (bleh), just current. I'm not balling enough to just pull stuff off the runway and my petite 5'2" frame just can't carry some of those looks. With that being said, I've been contemplating what I want my new wardrobe to consist of. I start the "first" job of my career on Monday (yay) and its in a design atmosphere.

Going 'Devil wears Prada' was my initial thought but I'd be broke by the end of the week and frankly I'm not that stylish. I'm trying out the uniform route which is right on par with Benz's suggestion to automate. I know exactly what looks good on my body and what makes me feel good, so why not just do a variation of that everyday-just changing the details. If it works for Karl Lagerfeld then I'm sure It'll work for those with thinner wallets.  I messed around on polyvore and put together some staples that could be worn very differently.

Once I start, I'll have a better idea of what everyone is wearing and I'll probably update with some OOTD. I am super excited to be at this point in my career and wanted to share my journey. Its been a long and winding road so hopefully as I develop the identity of this blog, I'll come across some things that might help a young passionate jil out there.

Peace
xx
